The Dutch Veluwe was once shaped by spirits and legends. Now you summon those forces again, card by card, to shape the land’s myth anew.

Veluwe is a 2-player, cooperative card game where you rebuild a landscape of myth and magic. Each turn, draw two cards, play one to a growing tableau, and discard the other -- shaping the Veluwe’s fate together.

The game includes 18 illustrated cards inspired by Dutch folklore: mysterious dunes, ghostly wells, wandering giants, and enchanted creatures. With every card placed, you alter both the land and your shared score, awakening the Veluwe’s quiet magic or letting it sleep once more.

Playtime: 5 minutes
Contents: 18 cards + rulesheet
Goal: build a 3×3 grid of cards to reach the highest possible score.

Easy to learn, illustrated by hand, and designed for quiet moments.

Played it a few time with a friend, very nice and charmingly illustrated.

We tweeked the draw system a bit to be closer to sprawlpolis : first player draws three cards, place one, discard one and pass one to the second player who draws two cards and so on... It gave us a bit more choice because we sometime felt trapped with only two cards. It also allowed the second player to start thinking with two of the three cards already in hand.

As a non-dutch, I would have also appreciate some flavor text to learn a bit about the legends. We looked on internet but some of those are poorly documented outside of dutch-only websites.

Overall loved the game, I will bring it around with me this summer !

Hi! Thank you for playing and for the generous comment. Glad to hear you're enjoying it!

I've never played sprawlpolis, so I'm eager to try out this draw system. Sounds interesting!

If I ever revisit this project, I'd love to add flavor text. The running time of the jam I created this for ultimately didn't allow for it, sadly. Dutch folklore is indeed not widely documented and hard to access, even for Dutch speakers. I'm glad to hear that you looked around online though! Sounds like the game at least sparked your curiosity about these legends -- which is all I could hope for when making it :)

Thank you again for playing and for leaving the comment! Hope you have a nice, playful summer!
